At Linfords Traditional Fish & Chips, we care about the safety of every customer who eats with us. Food allergies and intolerances matter to us, and we want to be open and honest about how allergens are handled in our kitchen.

Please read this carefully

We are not an allergen-free kitchen. Our food is prepared in an environment where some or all of the 14 legally recognised allergens are present, including (but not limited to) gluten (wheat), fish, eggs, milk, peanuts, nuts, mustard, sulphites, crustaceans and molluscs. Because of how our kitchen operates, there is a real risk of cross-contamination, including from airborne particles during frying. We cannot guarantee that any item is completely free from traces of any allergen.

Reduced gluten option

We fry a reduced gluten range using a separate fryer and separate tongs, with fresh oil put into that fryer on the first Tuesday of every month. We deliberately call this “reduced gluten” rather than “gluten free” — our kitchen is small, gluten-containing products are prepared nearby, and we cannot give an absolute guarantee of zero cross-contamination. Anyone with coeliac disease or a severe gluten allergy should weigh this up carefully before ordering, and please talk to a member of staff about how we prepare these items.

What we do

  • Allergen information for the 14 legally recognised allergens is available on request, in person or by phone.
  • Our team receives allergen awareness training.
  • We keep ingredient and allergen information up to date with our suppliers.
  • We store and label ingredients carefully and take practical steps to reduce cross-contamination.

What we’d ask of you

If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or coeliac disease, please:

  • Tell a member of staff before you order.
  • Ask to speak to a manager if you’d like more detail on ingredients or how something is prepared.
  • Use your own judgement about whether our takeaway & restaurant is right for you.
